About This Dog

Basil's ideal home

Basil is a fun loving 10-month-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier × Ridgeback cross with a big personality and an even bigger zest for life. He settles well in his kennel but is always excited when it's time to come out and explore. Basil is a curious boy who enjoys investigating new places and taking in everything around him. He is happy to be harnessed, although his enthusiasm can make him a little jumpy and excitable. He loves spending time with his handlers, enjoys plenty of fuss and attention, and is always keen to say hello to new people. His greetings can be very bouncy, so he will benefit from continued training to help him develop calmer manners when meeting visitors. Basil could potentially have calm, confident walking buddies who are comfortable around an energetic and exuberant companion. He will need ongoing socialisation to continue building positive relationships with other dogs.

Could you be Basil's perfect match?

Basil is an energetic young dog looking for an active family who are committed to continuing his training and helping him mature into the best companion he can be. He absolutely loves his food and enjoys treats, making reward-based training highly motivating for him, and he also loves playing with toys, which are a great way to keep both his mind and body occupied. Basil can find being left alone challenging at the moment, although enrichment activities help him settle more successfully. His new family will need to build up his time alone gradually from the beginning, with patience and consistency. He could live with sensible secondary school-aged children who have experience around lively, bouncy dogs and who understand his excitable nature. With plenty of exercise, ongoing socialisation, positive training, and lots of opportunities to learn, Basil is sure to thrive in a home that is ready to invest the time and dedication this clever, affectionate boy deserves.
