About This Dog

Rapunzel's ideal home

Rapunzel can live with teenagers but needs to be the only pet at home as she likes to nip at smaller animals. She is almost fully house trained and has been good when left for short periods of time. We are fairly sure that Rapunzel is deaf.

Could you be Rapunzel's perfect match?

Rapunzel is just a nine month old pup, not a full Collie but full of Collie traits! She has unfortunately been returned to us for bothering the cat and rabbit and trying to nip the family's heels. A very playful girl, she loves chase games and this is a great outlet for her Collie instincts. Rapunzel is also very food motivated, so hiding treats and using treat games is a useful way of keeping her big brain nice and busy. we believe Rapunzel is deaf so she relies a lot on what she sees for stimulation, so teaching her things with visual cues is likely going to be the best way forward when it comes to her training. It's better that she is the only dog in the home as she is incredibly boisterous and rowdy, but she would benefit from some friends for walking, and also young energetic dogs for some controlled off lead pay. Other pets are a no-no as she has been nipping at a cat and rabbit in her previous home, albeit in play. Her new family are going to have to be patient and willing to learn about deaf dog training and how to use hand signals. Full support will be offered by the centre's training team. Rapunzel is overflowing with potential, she just need a family that are committed to doing that little extra with her.
