Cookie

Cookie's ideal home

Cookie is a bright, energetic two-year-old lass who is looking for an experienced and understanding home to help her blossom. She can live with children aged 15 and up, though this may be negotiable for families confident with a boisterous and sometimes over-excited dog. Cookie has shown potential to live with another dog, pending successful introduction at the centre. She cannot live with cats or small furries.

As Cookie has no history of being left alone, any time left will need to be built up slowly once she has settled in her new home. She would benefit from a calm, quiet household where her people are around for most of the day, at least initially, to help her settle in. Her ideal home will be one that understands her sensitivities around new people and unfamiliar environments and is comfortable working with behaviours linked to over-arousal.

Could you be Cookie's perfect match?

Cookie is clever, curious, and full of potential. She loves using her nose and thrives when her brain is kept busy—scent games and enrichment will go a long way in helping her feel calmer and more in control. She builds bonds quickly with familiar faces and, once settled, enjoys cuddles and playtime with her trusted people. She can also enjoy the company of other dogs and would love opportunities to make friends in the right setting.

Cookie is working hard on her impulse control and can become over-excited, especially when offered fuss or food. With patient guidance and a consistent routine, she has every chance to make great progress. She is already familiar with the basics like sit and paw and would enjoy continuing her training in a positive, rewards-based way.

While Cookie can be worried about formal handling or new experiences she has shown she can gain confidence with time and the right approach. "Happy Vet Visits", going slow and making friends goes a long way to helping with this. She has moderate exercise needs and is likely to enjoy a mix of quiet walks, brain games, and sofa snuggles once she has settled in. If you are ready to help a smart, sensitive dog find her feet and flourish, Cookie could be the girl for you.

Staffie Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Staffordshire Bull Terrier.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 6 months, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
