About This Dog for Adoption

Polly's ideal home

Polly is a pretty three-year-old crossbreed who is a real sweetheart with lots of love to give. Polly is looking to be the only dog in the home. We don’t have any history of Polly living with cats or small furies, and feel that she would be best placed in a home as the only pet. She has been walked on her lead near livestock and has been fine. She would love a quiet, adult only home environment with a regular routine. Polly’s new home would either need a secure garden, or regular access to a large secure field, as she just loves the open space. Polly is a happy traveller and rests calmly in the car. Polly will need access to quieter walks and away from traffic. Polly would love her adopters to have an interest in positive reward training – which she loves, and it is great for mental stimulation. Potential adopters should be prepared to visit Polly at the centre a few times before adoption. To aid the transition from a rehoming centre into a home environment Polly will need to visit her new home and have overnight stays prior to adoption. This means that she can familiarise herself with her new home gradually. We therefore ask that any potential adopters live within an hour of the centre so we can facilitate this.

Could you be Polly's perfect match?

Polly fast became a firm favourite with her carers and volunteers due to her affectionate nature. She is always happy to see you and loves to give kisses and have a fuss and snuggles. Polly enjoys doing tricks for treats, she has a bag of them, including a ‘sit’, ‘down’, ‘paw’, ‘wait’ and ‘flop’. She loves to do fun agility, and ‘find it’ – scent games. She sometimes likes to play with toys and have a game of chase with you. She likes to go for rural, quiet, peaceful walks. She has been doing well with making new doggie pals, and she has a few dogs that join her out and about on walks, and some off-lead playmates too. She was born in lockdown so missed out on those early dog to dog social interactions, which meant that when the world went back to ‘normal’, and she met dogs she was not sure how to interact with them. Any new doggie pals would need to be tolerant of her initial boisterous greeting. She has been doing well with her training and she will need her adopters to carry on helping her with this. Polly responds well to her name paired with nice, tasty treats. Polly has been visiting our onsite bungalow and has been practicing a ‘settle’. Polly may take a bit of time before she begins to relax and feel at home but she will be worth the wait. She will need her new humans to be patient and understanding while she takes her time to find her paws in her new home environment. Adopt Polly, and you will find a loving, fun, best friend.

Staffie Puppy Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Staffordshire Bull Terrier.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 8 weeks, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped
  • Review and verify any documents, such as KC registration paperwork where applicable

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".
  • Seller asks to immediately switch to communication off the Staffie Owners website
  • Seller uses a different phone number to the one listed on the website - especially if that phone number is in one of the advert images

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
