About This Dog

Lyra's ideal home

Lyra is looking for a calm, understanding home where she can continue to build her confidence at her own pace. She will need to be the only pet in the home, as she has found interactions with other dogs challenging during her time in our care and would benefit from not having to share her home environment with other animals. Due to her size and tendency to become overexcited or worried in some situations, she is suitable to live with older secondary-aged children. Lyra would thrive with adopters who are committed to continuing her positive reinforcement training, particularly around confidence building and developing appropriate social skills. With patience, consistency and lots of encouragement, Lyra has all the qualities to become a wonderfully loyal and affectionate companion.

Could you be Lyra's perfect match?

Lyra is a wonderfully affectionate young girl with so much love to give. Once she gets to know you, she quickly becomes a champion cuddler, happily leaning her whole body into you, flopping into laps and soaking up every bit of fuss she can get. Although she can be a little unsure in new situations to begin with, she's shown that with kind handling, reassurance and a little patience, her confidence grows quickly. In kennels she has settled beautifully, often choosing to curl up in her bed when things are busy, and she's impressed everyone with her calm nature and lovely manners around food, handling and day-to-day routines. As Lyra has become more comfortable, her playful side has started to shine through too. She loves zooming after toys, enjoys tasty treats and chews, and is eager to spend time with the people she trusts. Lyra is looking for a family who will enjoy watching her confidence blossom and who will appreciate just how rewarding it is to earn the trust of such a sweet, gentle soul.
