About This Dog for Adoption

Gus's ideal home

Gus is a sweet and affectionate boy who would truly flourish in a quiet to moderately active home. He loves spending time with people and enjoys gentle affection. A peaceful environment with predictable routines will help him feel safe and secure, allowing his loving nature to shine.

He has shown relaxed and friendly behaviour around children in foster care and would be happy in a home with resident or visiting children of a secondary school age.

Gus would really enjoy having access to a garden – whether private or communal – where he can relax and explore at his own pace.

Gus will need to be the only pet in the home. He has shown he can calmly greet other dogs when out and about, especially those with a gentle temperament. He’s still learning to feel confident around more energetic or vocal dogs, so a pet-free home will help him thrive.

Gus appreciates calm surroundings and a bit of space when out on walks, which helps him feel more at ease and continue to work on his dog skills.

His future family will play an important role in continuing his training. Gus is working on lead walking, building confidence with handling and other dogs, and learning to feel comfortable when left alone. With patience, consistency, and lots of love, Gus will continue to grow into a confident and happy companion.

Could you be Gus's perfect match?

Gus is a charming five-year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier Cross Boxer with a heart full of love and curiosity. He came into our care after his previous owner was sadly unable to continue looking after him due to health reasons.

Gus is a sweet and affectionate boy who thrives on companionship, cuddles, and tasty treats. His playful nature shines through in short games with toys, though his true joy comes from spending time with people. He’s housetrained and enjoys calm, structured interactions that help him feel secure and confident.

He can be a little excitable when meeting new people or during handling, but responds beautifully to positive reinforcement and gentle guidance. In foster care, Gus has shown himself to be incredibly loving and relaxed, often found lounging on the sofa and enjoying the company of those around him. He’s been described as great with people in the foster carers’ building.

Gus travels well in the car, settling quickly and even snoozing during short journeys. He uses a seatbelt clip and rides comfortably in the back seat.

Because Gus finds being left alone a bit challenging, he’ll do best in a home where someone is around most of the time. With patience and gradual support, he can learn to feel more confident when alone.

Gus is ready to bring joy, loyalty, and lots of cuddles to a home that can offer him the love and stability he deserves.
