About This Dog for Adoption

Mama's ideal home

Mama is a 4 year old Staffordshire Bull Terrier. She is looking for a home where she can be the only pet but could have doggy friends outside of the home to play with. When Mama came into us she was very shy and nervous around handling and sudden movements, she has grown in confidence and blossoms as she gets to know you, to help her settle into her new home she is looking for an adult only home that can appreciate her nervous nature and the need to take things at her pace. Mama will need a private garden so she has a safe space for toileting and play while she is growing in confidence in her new home.

Could you be Mama's perfect match?

Mama came into us having spent time in a pound, we have little to no background information on her but given this we can presume she has been through some difficult times which can account for her nervous nature and being worried at times by handling and sudden movements/noises. She finds invasive/close handling worrying and so will need to be muzzled for veterinary examinations. She has really grown in confidence in the short time she has been with us and once she knows she can trust you, you start to see her cheeky, playful side. Mama loves playing with toys, especially her hedgehog teddy which she will cuddle up with in her bed. We are not sure if she was given access to toys previously but due to her love of them, any toys should be swapped with her not taken from her to avoid her developing any guarding behaviours as she will go still and place her paws on her toys if you approach her while she has one. Our training and behaviour team can offer advice on how best to help her build her confidence and how to use swap games to avoid any guarding behaviour escalating in the home. Mama has been toilet trained and clean in her kennel while with us but may need a refresher in this once in her new home. Mama has so much potential and for a family who can be patient with her and understand that given her past she will need to build bonds in her own time, she will make a truly wonderful companion.

Please note that you won’t be applying for a specific dog, but you can tell us what type of dog you’re looking for. You can also add up to four favourites to your application to give us an idea of the dogs you like, so we can consider you for similar dogs. Once you’ve submitted your application, we can’t change or update your favourites. Adding a dog to your application is not a reservation but a guide for us to find you a match.

Staffie Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Staffordshire Bull Terrier.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 8 weeks, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped
  • Review and verify any documents, such as KC registration paperwork where applicable

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".
  • Seller asks to immediately switch to communication off the Staffie Owners website
  • Seller uses a different phone number to the one listed on the website - especially if that phone number is in one of the advert images

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
