Bernie's ideal home

Bernie is charming, affectionate nine-year-old, who is looking for a calm home, where he can relish the luxuries of his retirement years. He’s hopeful to find a home that is situated away from busy roads and with a secure garden where he can enjoy safe, off-lead time and continue his toilet training. A driveway would be a bonus to help him gently build his confidence getting in and out of the car. Bernie would suit a multi-person home, where his adopters can work together to gradually help him feel comfortable being left alone, as this is something he may need a little help with. Due to his need for a peaceful environment and lack of background with children, he’d be best suited to a household with calm, secondary-school-age teenagers and limited visitors while he settles in. However, being such a friendly boy who adores human company, he probably wouldn’t mind frequent visitors once settled. While curious about other dogs when out walking, we think Bernie prefer to be the only pet at home.

Bernie is the kind of dog who just wants to be near you, soaking up the comfort of your presence, and his sweet, unassuming nature makes him an ideal companion for someone who enjoys the simple joy of having a loyal friend by their side. Once he knows you, Bernie is a truly affectionate boy who melts into you for a fuss, and we can imagine he’s likely to enjoy evenings snuggled up with you on the sofa! He’s already showing flashes of a playful personality, occasionally playing independently with toys in the kennels—and we suspect that once he’s in a loving home, more of his playful side will begin to shine.
